To Avoid Sexually Transmitted Diseases
The whole world is worried about the deadly disease, AIDS. If you are a person who is at risk or if you are a parent who has children who may be at risk, you are hoping that science will discover a cure in the near future. However, the solution to the AIDS problem is over 2000 years old. It has been ignored by most people in the world. It provides hope for the already infected and prevention for those who are not infected.
As of this writing, science has not come up with a solution to this problem. Because there is no known medical solution, premature DEATH seems to be inevitable for one who is infected. Death is a tragic event to those who have no realistic hope for the eternity which follows death. For those who have a realistic hope for eternity however, death is a release from all the pain, disappointment, and heartaches of this life. The following is the hope the Bible offers to all who suffer with AIDS. 1“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away“.
Also, one can have this confidence: 2“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” One without this hope faces death as a terrible enemy because the step into eternity will be a step into the worst situation the human mind can conceive. 3“Raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.” 4“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire”.
Death and the disease that brings about death is the product of sin not primarily your personal sins, but the sins of our great grandparents, Adam and Eve. We were born with that condition which causes us to be alienated from God. In fact, all of our efforts to find satisfaction through drugs, drink, and immorality are really efforts to fill the void in our life because we are alienated from God. The Bible says, 5“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” Because we were born alienated from God, there is nothing we can do of ourselves to solve our problem. The prophet Isaiah said, 6“But we are all like an unclean thing and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away“.
The apostle Paul said, 7“As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one.” So we know our condition is a hopeless condition were it not for the help of another.
Good news comes into the picture 8“… Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures” 9“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” 10“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
What can I do? This is a question asked in the Bible by a prison guard who was about to commit suicide because he thought his prisoners had escaped. He brought them out (of the prison) and said, 11“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” This question must be answered correctly if you would have hope after this life. The beautiful thing about this good news is that it only requires humility and repentance on your part instead of pride and self-defense. The solution requires that you pray to God asking for mercy and accepting the work of His son Jesus Christ. The answer to the question asked by the jailer was very simple 12“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.” Because the work was done by the Lord Jesus Christ as He suffered and died for you, all you need to do is accept His completed work done for you. 13“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’”
AIDS can be prevented. However, the most obvious solution to the problem facing the world today is often ignored. The answer to the question how to prevent the spread of AIDS is over 2000 years old. In fact, it is interesting that as the children of Israel came out of Egypt, God told them how to avoid getting the diseases that existed in Egypt at that time. The Egyptians very likely suffered from diseases similar to AIDS. This is the method of prevention God gave at that time and it will work today: 14“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”
God makes it very clear that fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and bestiality are sins that have serious consequences. For years mankind has known of diseases that are transmitted primarily through illegitimate sexual relationships and yet we continue to practice them. With improved methods of preventing conception, fornication and adultery have increased. With the accepting attitude of society toward homosexuality its practice has increased. With this increase of immoral activity has come an increase in the diseases associated with and spread by this type of sin. Prevention of these diseases is very simple, 15STOP TAKING ILLEGITIMATE INTRAVENOUS DRUGS AND STOP ENGAGING IN WHAT GOD CALLS IMMORAL CONDUCT—SIN!!!
Society will not accept this simple solution for prevention but you can. You may be so committed to the lust of the flesh that in your own strength you cannot change your life style. If you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, you become a 16“New creature in Christ, old things pass away.” It may be that most of those who are infected with the disease will not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior but you can. Don’t let the failure of others to do what is right, and brings satisfaction to the soul with peace of mind, keep you from taking care of your needs. The Lord Jesus Christ said when He was on earth: 17“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.“
HE GAVE HIS LIFE that you might have PEACE, and JOY. Whatever your physical condition is accept Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior? Allow Him through His word the Bible to direct your life. That is the solution for Aids, and every other problem mankind faces.
